Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Reveals Spooky New Pokemon

With Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet releasing in less than a month and the Halloween season, this seemed like a perfect time to reveal a new ghost Pokémon.

Greavard was revealed on October 25th. Greavard is the Ghost Dog Pokémon and is a pure ghost type with Pickup ability. Pickup is a reasonably common ability that allows users to find items in and out of battles. 

The Pokémon website described Greavard as having powerful jaws that can shatter bones. The website also describes it as a very lonely Pokémon that, once given affection, will follow its trainer forever while draining its trainer's life force. 

The name Greavard is possibly a combination of the words grieve, greaves (a byproduct of historical candlemaking; typically used as dog food), graveyard, and Briard, a long-haired dog breed. 

There has not been an evolution revealed for Greavard yet; however, most speculate it might have an evolution due to its ability being Pickup, typically reserved for base forms of Pokémon, and its giant paws, a trait of puppies. 

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be released on November 18th, 2022.
